To expose the industry’s hypocrisy, he adopts a pen name and writes a wildly exaggerated, satirical novel playing into the very tropes he despises. To his surprise, the book becomes a massive hit, catapulting him into the heart of the very system he aimed to critique. The film is a sharp and witty exploration of race, identity, and the commercialization of Black stories in America.
