Scott Derrickson directed and co-wrote Sinister, a supernatural horror film released in 2012. The story centers upon true-crime author Ellison Oswalt, whose portrayal of killings in his new home puts his family in danger. Ellison Oswalt, a crime writer, moves his family into a house where a horrendous crime occurred previously, but his family is unaware. He begins his investigation with the aim of producing a book on the incident. To further his investigation, Oswalt watches video footage he finds in the house, but he soon discovers more than he bargained for.
