“Dororo” is a 2007 Japanese live-action fantasy film Directed by Akihiko Shiota. The movie is based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka, which was originally serialized from 1967 to 1969.
The story is set in feudal Japan and follows the adventures of Hyakkimaru (played by Satoshi Tsumabuki), a young warrior on a quest to reclaim his stolen body parts. Before his birth, Hyakkimaru’s father, a powerful lord, made a pact with demons to gain political power. As a result, when Hyakkimaru was born, he was missing 48 body parts, including his eyes, ears, and limbs.
Despite his disabilities, Hyakkimaru is a skilled fighter and travels the land hunting down the demons that took his body parts. Along the way, he encounters Dororo (played by Kou Shibasaki), a plucky and resourceful young thief who becomes his traveling companion.
