The crime thriller film is directed by Ridley Scott and is based on John Pearson’s 1995 book Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty. In 1973, the grandson of a billionaire is kidnapped and is asked seventeen million dollars as ransom. The grandfather refuses to pay even after continuous pleas from the mother Gail who is his former daughter-in-law and adviser Fletcher Chase. In a desperate attempt, Gail and Fletcher come together to save the teen’s life.
