Released in 2013 the American biographical action thriller is inspired by 2009 Maersk Alabama hicjacking. The movie was directed by Paul Greengrass and features Tom Hanks as Captain Richard Phillips and Barkhad Abdi as the hijacker Abduwali Muse.
In the month of April, U.S containership Maersk Alabama was sailing towards its destination when Somali Pirates jumps into the vessel and take everyone on the ship hostage. It is now the responsibility of Captain Philips to save his crew member, the million dollars the hijackers are after, and return home safely. He uses his intelligence to save the ship and also manages to kill three of the four hijackers.
