A bounty hunter named Schultz searched out a slave named Django in 1858 and bought him because he wanted him to locate some men he was searching for. Django wants to locate his wife, Broomhilda, after discovering them, who, with him, was sold separately by his former owner for attempting to flee. If he opts to stay with him and be his girlfriend, Schultz promises to support him. They later discovered she had been sold to a plantation in Mississippi. They come up with a plan so that the owner can allow them into his home and they can find a way, understanding that they can’t just walk in and say they want her.
