Grand Civil War drama focuses on the actuality of choleric Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara. It starts with her idyllic existence in a sprawling colony, and the film traces her survival via the tragic history of the South for the period of the Civil War and Reconstruction and her elaborate love affairs with Ashley Wilkes and Rhett Butler. Gone With the Wind gives a novelettish view of the Civil War, in which the Old South takes the position of Camelot, and the battle used to be fought no longer, so a suited deal to master the Coalition and free the slaves as to supply Miss Scarlett O’Hara her punishment.
