The historical drama is directed by Steve McQueen and features Michael Fassbender, Liam Cunningham, Stuart Graham, Brian Milligan, Laine Megaw, Liam McMahon, and Helen Breen.
The movie is based on the 1981 Irish hunger strike that was started by a group of protesters in Northern Ireland. The protest was started as a result of an amendment by the British government to remove the special category Status to prisoners of war. The protest that started as a ‘dirty protest’ took the form of a hunger strike that ended with the death of protesters Bobby Sands being the protester who started the movement in the prison.
