Sam Dawson is a mentally challenged father who does his best to raise his daughter Lucy with the help of a group of friends. As Lucy turns seven, she starts surpassing his father intellectually. This comes to the attention of a social worker who wants Lucy to go to foster care, this threatens their relationship.
