Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father begins a new job in San Francisco, knows how difficult growing up can be. Riley is led by her feelings, which include Joy, Fear, Rage, Disgust, and Sadness, just like the rest of us. Riley’s emotions are housed in Headquarters, the command center of her mind, where they instruct her on how to live her life. Chaos reigns in Headquarters as Riley and her feelings adapt to a new life in San Francisco. Riley’s main and most critical emotion, Joy, attempts to keep things optimistic, but the emotions disagree on how to handle a new city, home, and school.
