This film is about the beginning of the victory of the human spirit, and it speaks to those who, like Edee and Miguel, have endured utter despair. The emotionally heavy material is broken up by occasional comedy (the song “Rule the World”) and beautiful scenery. It’s exciting to see a film in which men and women can form real friendships without having to deal with sex or implied sexual scenes.
