For his mentally troubled wife Sophie and Paul’s young son Martin, years after their father Paul’s unexplained and violent murder at his textile mill not much appears to have changed. Sophie’s condition appears to be deteriorating, as her increasingly persistent discussions with her familiar mutinous demons within the darkness’ embrace endangers Martin’s safety, which requires his elder step-sister, Rebecca, more than ever. Although the entity that haunts Sophie is palpably distinct and closely interwoven with her existence in Sophie’s consciousness, things are not so evident to Martin and Rebecca. However, the siblings will soon learn that when the lights go out, terrors exist in the form of ephemeral but terrifying sounds, as well as faint evidence of otherworldly phenomena.
