Shazam. delves into the life of Billy Batson, an orphaned 14-year-old searching for his parents and isolating himself from everyone willing to support him before he is offered one last opportunity to settle in with a new foster family (also orphans) in the hopes that they will help him see sense. Billy soon finds himself out of his depth, and the story ends with him fleeing, as it has with so many others. This time, though, he encounters a powerful wizard and is forced to assume the mantle of Shazam. He was left with a perplexing face, a perplexing body, perplexing abilities, and no one to turn to but his foster family.
