The American biographical comedy-drama film is co-written and directed by Adam McKay and is based on Michael Lewis’s 2010 book by the same name. The movie features Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt.
Based in the backdrop of the 2008 financial crisis, Wall Street guru Michael Burry smells the upcoming subprime housing loan crisis. He takes his investor’s money and invests $1 Billion dollars into credit default swaps. Many of his followers including banker Jared Vennett and hedge-fund specialist Mark Baum take this as an opportunity to earn a fortune in the falling economy.
