The Long Walk directed by Francis Lawrence is a grueling and intense dystopian thriller based on the chilling novel by Stephen King. Set in an alternate, authoritarian version of the United States, the harrowing narrative follows a group of one hundred teenage boys who voluntarily enter a brutal government sponsored annual contest known simply as “The Long Walk.” The rules of this televised spectacle are as simple as they are unforgiving: the participants must continuously walk along a designated route at a minimum speed of three miles per hour. If they drop below the required pac they receive a warning if they fail to recover their speed after three warning they are fatally shot by the armed soldiers shadowing them. As the agonizing journey stretches on for hundreds of mile the boys are pushed to their absolute physical and psychological limits. Amidst the terrifying reality of their situation they form fleeting alliance battle their own deteriorating mind and witness the tragic downfall of their peers in a desperate relentless bid to be the last one standing and claim the ultimate prize.
