The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (2024)
Director: Nebojša Slijepčević
This powerful historical drama recounts a tragic real-life event from the Bosnian War. A passenger train en route from Belgrade, Serbia, to Bar, Montenegro, is stopped by Serbian paramilitary forces in the small station of Štrpci, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The soldiers, having been tipped off about Muslim passengers on the train, identify and forcibly remove 19 Muslims before executing them shortly after the train resumes its journey. Among the 500 passengers who witnessed the horrific event, only one man, Tomo Buzov, a retired military officer, courageously speaks up. His brave act of defiance stands in stark contrast to the silent complicity of the rest, marking him as a rare figure of moral courage in a time of widespread violence and fear.
