Malcom Crowe is a child psychologist who wins an award on the same night that a very disappointed ex-patient sees him. Crowe takes on the challenge of curing a young boy with the same ills as the ex-patient (Donnie Wahlberg) after this experience. This boy “sees people dead.” Much to the dismay of his wife (Olivia Williams), Crowe spends a lot of time with the child. The mother of Cole (Toni Collette) is at her wit ‘s end of what to do about the growing problems of her son. The boy’s only hope is Crowe.
