At the 1968 Democratic National Convention, what was supposed to be a peaceful demonstration turned into a violent confrontation with the police and the National Guard. The protest leaders, including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale, were charged with conspiracy to cause a riot, and one of the most infamous trials in history was the trial that followed.
