Several men attempt to find a way out of a desolate South American village. Their biggest issue is that they are effectively stranded there. The only way out of town is to drive to the oil drilling rigs, and they don’t have enough money to fly out. There are no jobs to speak of, and each day seems to pass inexorably. When a big fire breaks out at an oil drilling site, the company hires four men to move highly explosive nitroglycerin through rugged terrain and deserted roads. The four accept the job because the pay is more than sufficient to allow them to quit once the work is completed. However, the work is so risky that few people expect them to survive.
