The Wilderness written and directed by Spencer King is a slo burn psychological drama that pulls back the curtain on the secretive and controversial world of tough love youth rehabilitation. The story centers on a group of troubled teenage boys who are abruptly taken from their homes with their parent consent and sent deep into the unforgiving Utah desert. Stranded without any contact with the outside world they are forced to participate in a brutal “Wilderness Therapy” program. As the boys navigate the grueling physical challenges of the environment they realize their only ticket home is to earn the approval of an enigmatic quietly domineering program director. However as rehabilitation give way to psychological manipulation the line between healing and survival blur forcing them to decide whether to endure the system or risk everything to escape it.
