In Warsaw, Joseph and Maria Tura run and star in their own theatre company. Maria has many admirers, including Stanislav Sobinski, a young lieutenant in the Polish air force. Sobinski and his colleagues flee to England when the Nazis invade Poland to launch World War II, while the Turas are forced to operate under strict restrictions. Meanwhile, in England, Sobinski and his friends send Professor Siletski, who is about to return to Poland, the names and addresses of their closest relatives so that the professor can deliver messages on their behalf. When it’s discovered that Siletski is actually a German spy, Sobinski parachutes into Poland and enlists the Turas and their fellow actors to help him recover the list.
