With the support of his agent Ellie Appleton and close friends, aspiring singer Jack Malik is battling to become a great musician. He is, however, a loser who must work in a supermarket to make ends meet. There is a blackout one day, and Jack is riding his bicycle when he has an accident. Ellie gives him a new guitar when he recovers, and Jack plays “Yesterday.” Soon after, he discovers that the rest of the world is unfamiliar with “The Beatles,” and he begins to play and sing their songs, eventually becoming the greatest guitarist in the world with the help of a greedy agent. But can he afford the price he’ll have to pay for the popularity he’ll have to steal?
