“The Mourning Forest” is a 2007 Japanese drama film Written and Directed by Naomi Kawase. The movie is known in Japanese as “Mogari no Mori.”
The story revolves around the relationship between two individuals dealing with grief and loss. Machiko (played by Machiko Ono) is a caregiver at a nursing home, and Shigeki (played by Shigeki Uda) is one of the elderly residents. Both characters are grappling with their own personal tragedies.
