“Samaritan Girl” is a 2004 South Korean drama film Written and Directed by Kim Ki-duk. The movie is also known as “Samaria” or “Samaritan Girl: Samaria” in some regions.
The film tells the story of two teenage girls, Yeo-jin (played by Kwak Ji-min) and Jae-yeong (played by Seo Min-jung), who become involved in a dangerous and tragic journey. Yeo-jin’s mother is a prostitute, and Yeo-jin helps her by acting as a pimp, arranging encounters with clients. She keeps the money earned from these encounters and dreams of using it to travel to Europe.
As Yeo-jin embarks on this somber journey, the film delves into themes of guilt, redemption, and the consequences of actions. Throughout her travels, she encounters a series of complex and emotionally charged situations, leading her to question her choices and seek some form of absolution.
