“The Divine Move” (Korean: “신의 한 수”) is a 2014 South Korean action thriller film directed by Jo Bum-gu. The movie is known for its combination of action, suspense, and strategic gameplay within the world of the ancient board game, Baduk (also known as Go).
The story follows Tae-seok (played by Jung Woo-sung), a professional Baduk player who finds himself framed for the murder of his brother and is subsequently imprisoned. After his release from prison, Tae-seok plans to seek revenge against those responsible for his brother’s death. He reenters the world of Baduk, not only as a player but also as a strategic manipulator, seeking to outwit his opponents using both his skills in the game and his understanding of human psychology.
