After Captain Bernard Law Montgomery is killed at some stage in a shady operation which includes the humans in the back of the murder of Kate Beckett’s (Stana Katic) mother, a sniper shoots Beckett whilst she’s giving the eulogy at Montgomery’s funeral, inflicting Castle (Nathan Fillion) to eventually confess his love for her. Beckett is straight away rushed to the hospital, the place the precinct’s medical examiner Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones) is waiting. Castle, his mom and daughter, and detectives Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Esposito (Jon Huertas) all wait for news whilst Beckett goes into surgery. Castle blames himself for her injury, reasoning that if he hadn’t pushed her to look at the case, she never would have been centered.
