Mad Men is set in the Sixties and its plot follows Don Draper and the human beings that he works with at the Sterling Cooper advertising agency. Specifically, we view the lives of Draper himself, senior companion Roger Sterling (John Slattery), young account govt Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser), Don’s secretary Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), his spouse Betty (January Jones) and the workplace manager Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks).
