Poldark returns in this second series as he continues to rebuild his lifestyle after the war. Ross returns to Cornwall from America to find his old love ensconced in a Poldark family manor with her 2nd husband (Ralph Bates). Ross’s search for Dwight Enys takes him to France. Ross and his miner friends come across Mark Daniels, but his expertise of Wheal Grace doesn’t help them locate any copper. Dwight and Caroline make plans to run off collectively and get married, even though he’s struggling with leaving his village existence behind.
Elizabeth has complex emotions about Ross. Demelza weirdly seems indignant at Elizabeth for existing than she does at Ross for being a jerk. Elizabeth consents to marry Vile George Warleggan because she’s a broke widow with an infant who’s out of options. Ross, as you might expect, doesn’t take nicely to this news and barges over to Trenwith to confront his ex about her selections that have not had an effect on his life at all. The two of them end up drowsing together.
