Season 5 of the historic drama depicts the aftermath of King Ragnar’s (Travis Fimmel) death: After setting up a stronghold in England, his surviving sons are at fighting with every other, with Ivar (Alex Høgh) claiming the Kingdom of Kattegat for himself, supported by using his brother Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) and towards his other brother Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith). Meanwhile, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) explores northern Africa attempting to fulfill his destiny. As the season progresses, new tensions arise, introduced forward through the introduction of warrior priest Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers).
