“Himizu” is a 2011 Japanese drama film Directed by Sion Sono. The movie is based on a manga of the same name written and illustrated by Minoru Furuya.
The story is set in the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, a time of immense devastation and uncertainty in Japan. The film follows the lives of two teenagers, Sumida (played by Shōta Sometani) and Keiko (played by Fumi Nikaido), as they struggle to cope with their traumatic pasts and the challenges of their present circumstances.
Sumida’s life is marked by neglect and abuse from his parents, and he is consumed by feelings of anger and despair. Keiko, on the other hand, is infatuated with Sumida and becomes determined to help him despite her own troubled background.
