A group of National Guards on an isolated weekend exercising in the Louisiana swamp ought to fight for their lives when they anger close by Cajuns through the talent of stealing their canoes. Without live ammunition and in a bizarre country, their day trip begins to replicate the Vietnam experience. Upon seeing the Cajuns, one trooper opens the furnace on them with blanks, absolutely for the Cajuns to return the furnace with real bullets and kill the group’s sergeant. Leaderless, the group takes a Cajun trapper prisoner and blows up his cabin. The other Cajuns pursue the troopers through the bayous, slowly annihilating their numbers.
