Jobless roughneck Bill Baker makes a trip from Oklahoma to Marseille to visit his alienated girl Allison. Detained for a homicide she guarantees she didn’t submit. Allison seizes on another tip that could excuse her and presses Bill to draw in her legitimate group But Bill anxious to demonstrate his value and recover his girl’s trust assumes control over the issue. He is immediately obstructed by language hindrances, social contrasts, and a convoluted overall set of laws until he meets French entertainer Virginie, mother to eight-year-old Maya. Together, these impossible partners leave on an excursion of disclosure, truth, love, and freedom.
