“Nobody Knows” is a 2004 Japanese drama film Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The movie is based on a true event and features a remarkable performance by Yūya Yagira, who won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his role.
The film follows the story of four siblings who are living in Tokyo with their single mother. The mother, overwhelmed by her own struggles, leaves the children alone in their small apartment for an extended period. She promises to return, but as the days pass, it becomes apparent that she has no intention of coming back.
Left to fend for themselves, the children try to survive by pooling their limited resources and keeping their predicament a secret from the outside world. As they face increasing hardships and uncertainty, the siblings form a close bond to cope with their challenging circumstances.
