“Norwegian Wood” is a 2010 Japanese romantic drama film Directed by Tran Anh Hung. The movie is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Haruki Murakami.
The story is set in the 1960s and follows the life of Toru Watanabe, a college student in Tokyo. Toru is deeply affected by the suicide of his close friend, Kizuki. While trying to cope with the loss, he becomes romantically involved with Kizuki’s girlfriend, Naoko. However, Naoko is emotionally fragile, haunted by Kizuki’s death, and struggling with her own mental health issues. As Toru and Naoko navigate their complicated relationship, they encounter Midori, a vivacious and outgoing classmate. Toru is drawn to Midori’s contrasting personality, which leads to a romantic dilemma as he finds himself torn between his feelings for Naoko and his attraction to Midori.
