The first massive departure got here quite predictably in the last act — after a game-changing revelation, naturally — but the real shocker used to be reserved for the closing moments when any other series normal used to be seemingly felled. Season 3 was a huge step forward for Ryan and Esposito as they both bought involved more and greater in the storylines and had their heritage tales further explored. While other characters like Alexis and Lanie had been criminally underused, Detectives Ryan and Esposito shined all season long, culminating with their heartbreaking combat scene in the finale when they discover out about Captain Montgomery’s betrayal.
