It’s six months after the combat of Kattegat, and Bjorn is now king. However, as he struggles with the responsibilities of kingship, he learns that he cannot remember his mother, on the grounds that she has other plans. In the drama, Bjorn Ironside is now king of Kattegat, however, his fate is unsure after being stabbed with the aid of Ivar in the section 1 finale, which saw Ivar and the Rus Vikings return west to reclaim Scandinavia with blood. Hvitserk is allied with them, having been banished by Bjorn for killing Lagertha in a drug-induced fugue, although he believes he is destined to kill Ivar himself. (This is now not entirely barring reason, seeing as Ivar had Hvitserk’s lover Thora burned alive in an act of capricious cruelty helpful of the worst Roman emperors.
Ubbe has left this all behind, it seems, sailing for Iceland earlier than absolutely everyone knew the Rus have been coming in search of Floki. And Harald Finehair, the man elected through the Vikings over Bjorn to emerge as King of All Norway, is grievously wounded.
