The horrific and contentious case of Cameron Todd Willingham, who was executed in Texas for the murder of his three children after scientific proof and expert testimony proving his innocence was suppressed. Trial By Fire aspires to be different. Cameron Todd Willingham, a ‘white trash’ Texan, and his wife, Stacy, are the central characters in the film. Todd was found guilty of murder after setting fire to his own home while his three young children slept. The film, directed by Edward Zwick, begins with a deadly fire, and Todd’s anger appears to be reflected in the fire that consumes his family.
