“Audition” (Japanese: “オーディション”) is a 1999 Japanese psychological horror film Directed by Takashi Miike. The movie is based on a novel of the same name by Ryu Murakami.
The story follows Shigeharu Aoyama (played by Ryo Ishibashi), a widower who decides to hold a fake audition for a film in order to find a new wife. He becomes captivated by Asami Yamazaki (played by Eihi Shiina), a seemingly shy and reserved woman who auditioned for the role. As Shigeharu becomes more involved with Asami, he begins to uncover disturbing and dark secrets from her past.
