“Our Little Sister” (Japanese: “Umimachi Diary”) is a 2015 Japanese drama film Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The movie is based on a manga of the same name written by Akimi Yoshida.
The story centers around three adult sisters – Sachi (played by Haruka Ayase), Yoshino (played by Masami Nagasawa), and Chika (played by Kaho) – who live together in the family home in Kamakura after their parents’ divorce. One day, they learn of the death of their estranged father and attend his funeral, where they meet their half-sister, Suzu Asano (played by Suzu Hirose), for the first time. Suzu, a high school student, is dealing with her own personal challenges and family issues.
