The remnants of his organisation, The Syndicate, were reorganized as a rogue militant group called the Apostles two years after Solomon Lane’s capture. IMF agent Ethan Hunt is assigned to purchase from “elements of the Eastern European underworld” three stolen plutonium cores in Berlin. For the mission, he is joined by Benji Dunn and Luther Stickell, but when Stickell is taken hostage, the team fails and Hunt’s effort to rescue him helps the Apostles to make off with the plutonium. Later, the team catches Nils Delbruuk, a nuclear weapons specialist who crafted nuclear devices for an anarchist called John Lark, to locate Lark.
