Despite his father’s hopes that he would become an agricultural engineer and take care of their family farm in an Aegean village, Sadik was politically involved as a university student and became a left-wing journalist in the 1970s. When a merciless military coup occurs on September 12, 1980, they are unable to find a hospital or a doctor, and his wife dies while giving birth to their only child, Deniz. Sadik returns to his village with 7-8-year-old Deniz after a long period of torture, trials, and imprisonment, knowing that reconciling with his father, Huseyin, would be difficult.
