“Shared benefit” focuses on Paul Giamatti, an entertainer whose inspiration regularly is by all accounts: I’m tired and not going to take it any longer. He can play sweet, yet he’s most at home in a job like this: Mike Flaherty, an unremarkable attorney in a New Jersey town, who can’t earn a living wage. He cherishes his children and his significant other, Jackie (Amy Ryan), however, he doesn’t care for his work, he doesn’t have the cash to fix the evaporator in the cellar of his office, and he will joyfully delay until the dead tree in his front yard falls on the house before he does anything about it.
