“9 Souls” is a 2003 Japanese crime-comedy-drama film Directed by Toshiaki Toyoda. The movie follows the journey of nine convicts who escape from prison together, each with their own unique personalities and reasons for breaking free.
The motley crew of escapees consists of diverse characters, including a hardened gangster, a quiet and introspective man, a former yakuza boss, a transgender woman, and others. As they flee from the authorities, they embark on a road trip, seeking to find a hidden stash of stolen money left behind by one of the convicts before his arrest.
Throughout their journey, the group faces various challenges and obstacles, leading to both humorous and poignant moments. Despite their criminal backgrounds and individual differences, the group forms unexpected bonds and friendships as they learn more about each other’s pasts and motivations.
