“Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning” is a 2021 Japanese action-adventure film Directed by Keishi Otomo. It is the fourth installment in the “Rurouni Kenshin” live-action film series, which is based on the popular manga and anime series “Rurouni Kenshin” created by Nobuhiro Watsuki.
The film serves as a prequel to the previous movies and explores the backstory of the titular character, Himura Kenshin (played by Takeru Satoh), before he became a wandering swordsman. It delves into Kenshin’s past as the assassin Battosai the Manslayer during the turbulent Bakumatsu period in Japan. The story focuses on his relationship with Tomoe Yukishiro (played by Kasumi Arimura), a woman whose life becomes intertwined with Kenshin’s.
