“A Bittersweet Life” is a 2005 South Korean action thriller film Directed by Kim Jee-woon. The movie stars Lee Byung-hun in the lead role.
The story follows Sun-woo (played by Lee Byung-hun), a loyal and efficient enforcer for a powerful crime boss named Kang (played by Kim Yeong-cheol). Sun-woo is fiercely dedicated to Kang and carries out his orders without question. He is known for his ruthless efficiency and calm demeanor.
When Kang leaves the city for a few days, he asks Sun-woo to keep an eye on his young mistress, Hee-soo (played by Shin Min-a). Sun-woo is to make sure she stays faithful and does not see other men in his absence. However, when Sun-woo discovers that Hee-soo is having an affair, his loyalty and dedication are put to the test.
Instead of following Kang’s orders to kill Hee-soo and her lover, Sun-woo decides to spare them. This act of defiance sets off a chain of violent events that put Sun-woo in direct conflict with Kang and his criminal organization.
