As Jesse arrives in Paris to read his new novel, Jesse, an American writer, and Celine, a French woman working for an environmental protection organization, met nine years ago on a train from Budapest to Vienna. They walk through Paris, talking about their experiences, thoughts and whether they still love each other, as they have only a few hours before his plane leaves, while Jesse is already married to a child.
