“Azumi” is a 2003 Japanese action-adventure film Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura. The movie is based on the manga of the same name written by Yu Koyama.
The story is set in the Sengoku period, a time of intense civil wars in feudal Japan. It follows a young and skilled female assassin named Azumi (played by Aya Ueto), who was raised from childhood by a master swordsman named Gessai (played by Yoshio Harada) to become a deadly assassin.
Azumi is part of a small group of young assassins, including her close friend and fellow student, Nagara (played by Joe Odagiri). Their mission is to carry out orders from their master to eliminate corrupt and tyrannical warlords, restoring peace to the land.
As the group embarks on their deadly mission, they encounter powerful enemies and face moral dilemmas. Azumi must grapple with her loyalty to her master and her comrades while questioning the ethics of their violent path.
