The movie is produced and directed by Angelina Jolie. The movie is based on Loung Ung’s book by the same name. The movie features Srymoch Dareum, Kompheak Phoeung, Socheata Sveng, Dara Heng and Kimhak Mun.
Based in the times of the Vietnam war, the fight between the North and the South Korean army extended to neighbouring Cambodia, which started the Cambodian civil war. A five year old Loung Ung sees the atrocities and terror in the country when two million people are killed in a genocide. The civil war forces her and her six young siblings to go for military training in the labor camps.
